Located in Merrill Drive, San Jose, the resident was restored from fire damage. During restoration, we not only proposed an addition, a scope of 506 SF, to the existing main house but also converted a portion of the existing floor area into an attached JADU(409 SF). The existing living room and the kitchen were located on the left corner of the existing house, next to the garage which made the spaces feel detached from the house. To brighten up the space and welcoming, we proposed locating the living room, great room, and the kitchen in the center heart of the house and bedrooms surrounding it. Vaulted ceilings and skylights were added to the great room, kitchen, and sunroom to add vertical dimension to the open space and to create a cozy atmosphere by welcoming natural light.
